Israeli airstrike kills 12 in eastern Lebanon village
An Israeli airstrike on a village in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley killed 12 people as military operations intensify ahead of planned talks.

An Israeli airstrike on a village in eastern Lebanon killed 12 people, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported Tuesday. The strike occurred late Monday in the Bekaa Valley area.
The attack came after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced authorization for more intensive strikes targeting Hezbollah across Lebanon. The Israeli military said Monday it was targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in eastern Lebanon but did not comment on the specific strike that killed 12 people.
Rescue workers recovered a dozen bodies from rubble following what they described as an intense wave of overnight strikes across southern and eastern Lebanon. The escalation occurs three days before Lebanese and Israeli military delegations are scheduled to meet in Washington for direct talks.
Hezbollah continues attacking Israeli troops in southern Lebanon and northern Israeli towns, vowing to maintain operations until Israel ceases daily airstrikes and withdraws troops from Lebanon. The Lebanese government supports the direct talks with Israel, which Hezbollah opposes, hoping they will lead to a ceasefire.
The conflict has displaced over one million people in Lebanon. The war began when Hezbollah fired rockets into northern Israel on March 2 in what the group described as solidarity with Iran.
