Eric Trump characterized Psaki's comments as "blatant lies" in his announcement of the planned legal action against both the host and the network, which was recently rebranded as MSNBC.

The China trip included discussions between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping on various diplomatic matters. President Trump told Fox News that he raised the case of imprisoned Chinese critic Jimmy Lai with Xi Jinping during their meetings, though he expressed limited optimism about the Chinese leader's response to the request.

Neither MSNBC nor Psaki have publicly responded to Eric Trump's lawsuit announcement. The threatened legal action represents the latest in a series of disputes between the Trump family and news media organizations over coverage of their activities and business dealings.
