AI Tools Advance in Mathematics, Commerce as Companies Expand Applications
New AI developments include mathematical discovery tools from Axiom Math and enhanced shopping features from Meta.

Artificial intelligence applications are expanding across multiple sectors, with new tools emerging for mathematical research and commercial applications.
Axiom Math, a Palo Alto-based startup, has released Axplorer, a free AI tool designed to help mathematicians discover patterns that could solve long-standing mathematical problems. The tool represents a redesign of PatternBoost, which was co-developed in 2024 by François Charton, who now works as a research scientist at Axiom Math.
Meanwhile, Meta is integrating generative AI into its shopping features across Instagram and Facebook. The company is using the technology to provide enhanced product and brand information to users when they browse and shop within its applications.
The developments reflect broader trends in AI deployment, including what industry observers call "agentic AI" - systems designed to move beyond providing assistance to actually executing tasks. This approach would enable users to give complex instructions to digital agents, such as booking travel arrangements within specific parameters, with the AI handling the entire process rather than simply providing options.
These advances come as companies across various industries work to integrate AI capabilities into specialized applications, from academic research tools to consumer commerce platforms.
