Israeli settlers attacked at least six Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank overnight Saturday into Sunday, injuring several people and damaging homes and vehicles, according to Palestinian officials and the Israeli military.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that at least three Palestinians in the village of Jalud suffered head wounds from beatings and required hospitalization. The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said at least five people were wounded in the overnight assaults, which included arson attacks on homes and cars and the use of pepper spray against Palestinians.

The attacks occurred in villages including Silat al Dahr and Fandaqumiya near Jenin, Jalud and Salfit south of Nablus, and the agricultural regions of Masafer Yatta and the Jordan Valley. The incidents took place during the Eid al-Fitr holiday marking the end of Ramadan.

The violence followed the death on Saturday of 18-year-old settler Yehuda Sherman, who was reportedly killed after being struck by a vehicle driven by a Palestinian while riding his quad bike. Police said they are investigating settlers' claims that the collision was deliberate.

The Israeli military confirmed it responded to Israeli civilians engaging in "arson against structures and property, as well as engaging in disturbances in the area," but did not report any arrests or indicate whether investigations were opened. The military statement did not provide details about the scope of the response.

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, 25 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli settlers and soldiers this year as of March 15. The Palestinian Authority has documented multiple arson attacks across the territory, including attacks on mosques.
