19-year-old Mexican migrant dies in ICE custody at Florida detention center
Royer Perez-Jimenez was found unconscious and unresponsive at a county jail holding immigration detainees.

A 19-year-old Mexican migrant died this week while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody at a Florida detention facility, according to ICE officials.
Royer Perez-Jimenez was found unconscious and unresponsive in his room on March 16 at the Glades County Detention Center in Moore Haven, Florida, ICE said in a press release Thursday.
The detention center is a county jail that holds immigrant detainees for ICE. Perez-Jimenez's death marks the second person to die in ICE custody this week, according to reports.
ICE has not released details about the cause of death or circumstances surrounding the incident. The agency typically conducts reviews of deaths in custody, which can take several months to complete.
The death comes as immigration enforcement has intensified under the current administration. ICE operates detention facilities across the country, including through contracts with local jails and private facilities to house individuals awaiting immigration proceedings.
