King's Birthday Honours recognize sports figures and political personalities
The King's Birthday Honours list includes knighthoods for rugby league star Kevin Sinfield and honors for England footballers and Welsh legend Cliff Jones.
The King's Birthday Honours have been announced, recognizing achievements across sports, politics and public service.
Kevin Sinfield, the former Leeds Rhinos captain and current England rugby league coach, received a knighthood in recognition of his contributions to the sport and charitable work. Sinfield has gained widespread recognition for his fundraising efforts supporting motor neurone disease research.
Six members of England's Euro 2025-winning women's football squad were made Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). The Lionesses' European Championship victory marked a significant achievement for women's football in England.
Wales and Tottenham Hotspur legend Cliff Jones, 91, was also made an MBE. Jones represented Wales internationally and played for Spurs during his professional career, making him one of the oldest recipients in this year's honours list.
The honours list also included recognition for various political figures, including an ally of Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, two former senior Conservative MPs, and a former civil servant who was previously connected to the Horizon postal scandal controversy.
The King's Birthday Honours are awarded twice yearly to recognize outstanding achievements and service to the community across the United Kingdom.
