Former 60 Minutes Correspondent Scott Pelley Alleges Editorial Interference at CBS News
Scott Pelley claims CBS News leadership under Bari Weiss pressured changes to coverage favoring Trump's characterization of events.

Former CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley has accused the network's editorial leadership of interfering with news coverage and pushing for content that aligned with former President Donald Trump's framing of events, according to an interview published in The New York Times Magazine.
Pelley, who was recently dismissed from "60 Minutes" after 37 years at CBS News, alleged that CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss requested changes to a broadcast segment examining the killing of Minneapolis protester Renee Good by an immigration officer in January. According to Pelley, Weiss sent an email to his supervisor requesting modifications to the report shortly before it was scheduled to air.
The veteran journalist claimed that Weiss wanted the segment to state that Good was "driving toward officer," which Pelley said echoed Trump's characterization of the incident. Pelley described this as part of a broader pattern of editorial interference that he believes has created turmoil in the CBS newsroom under Weiss's leadership.
Pelley served various roles during his tenure at CBS News, including as a White House correspondent and longtime "60 Minutes" correspondent. The interview with The New York Times represents his first extended public comments since his departure from the network.
CBS News has not immediately responded to requests for comment regarding Pelley's allegations about editorial practices and newsroom management under the current leadership structure.
