Park Service Renovations Target Memorial Bridge and Reflecting Pool for July 4th
Federal projects aim to complete restoration work on Washington D.C. monuments ahead of Independence Day celebrations.

The National Park Service is completing multiple renovation projects on Washington D.C. monuments ahead of Independence Day, including work on bridge statues and the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
The Park Service awarded a no-bid contract for restoration work on bronze statues, with costs rising from an original estimate of $2.4 million to $5 million. The project aims to complete the bronze restoration work in time for July 4th celebrations.
Separately, renovations to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool were scheduled to be completed Wednesday. According to President Trump's social media posts, the pool has been cleaned and re-painted in what he described as "American flag blue." The final protective coating was scheduled to be applied at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
The Reflecting Pool sits between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, serving as a central feature for visitors to the National Mall. Both projects represent efforts to ensure the monuments are in optimal condition for the Independence Day holiday and ongoing tourism.
The timeline for completion of both projects coincides with the approach of July 4th, when the National Mall typically sees increased visitor traffic for patriotic celebrations and events.
