Iowa Republican Primary Results Show Mixed Outcomes for Trump Endorsements
Businessman Zach Lahn defeated Trump-backed Rep. Randy Feenstra in Iowa's GOP gubernatorial primary, while other state races remain ongoing.

Republican businessman Zach Lahn won Iowa's gubernatorial primary on Tuesday, defeating incumbent Rep. Randy Feenstra despite Feenstra's endorsements from President Trump and retiring Sen. Joni Ernst. Feenstra conceded the race as results showed voters rejected Trump's late endorsement in the contest.
Lahn, who received support from Turning Point Action and aligned with the MAHA movement, will face Democratic State Auditor Rob Sand in November's general election. Sand ran uncontested in the Democratic primary. The matchup is expected to be competitive in the typically Republican-leaning state.
The Iowa result marked a rare primary defeat for a Trump-endorsed candidate in this election cycle, breaking what had been a strong endorsement streak for the former president in Republican primaries.
Elsewhere, primary races continued to unfold across multiple states. In South Dakota, businessman Toby Doeden advanced to a runoff in the Republican gubernatorial race, while Gov. Larry Rhoden survived a challenge from Rep. Dusty Johnson in the crowded GOP field.
California's gubernatorial primary remained unsettled as vote counting continued, with former Fox News host Steve Hilton appearing positioned to advance to the November runoff pending final ballot counts. New Mexico Republicans selected Gregg Hull as their gubernatorial nominee as the party seeks to reclaim the governor's office.
