Multiple Artists Drop Out of America 250 Concert Series on National Mall
At least six of nine featured musical acts have withdrawn from Trump administration-organized concerts celebrating America's 250th anniversary.

At least six of nine musical acts scheduled to perform in a concert series celebrating America's 250th anniversary have withdrawn from the events, just one day after the lineup was announced by the Trump administration.
The concert series is planned for the National Mall in Washington, D.C., as part of the United States' 250th birthday celebration. The Trump administration organized the events featuring multiple performers across several dates.
Morris Day was among the first to drop out hours after Wednesday's announcement, calling his scheduled participation a baseless "rumor." Other artists who have since withdrawn include Young MC, C+C Music Factory, and country singer Martina McBride.
McBride stated on Thursday that she was "presented with an opportunity to perform at a nonpartisan event but that turned out to be misleading." She did not elaborate on the specific nature of the misleading information.
The rapid succession of withdrawals has left the concert series with significantly fewer performers than originally announced. The artists cited various reasons for their decisions, with some disputing they had ever agreed to participate while others expressed concerns about the event's characterization.
The America 250 celebration marks the United States' semiquincentennial, commemorating 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776.
