Michigan arts school to demolish lodge formerly named for Jeffrey Epstein
Interlochen Center for the Arts will tear down Green Lake Lodge, which previously bore the name of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

The Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan announced this week that it will demolish a lodge that was formerly named after Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender who died in federal custody in 2019.
The school's board of trustees approved a plan to tear down the Green Lake Lodge, which had been known as the Jeffrey E. Epstein Scholarship Lodge until the institution severed ties with the late financier. Epstein has been accused of meeting at least two of his victims at the prestigious summer arts camp and boarding school.
Interlochen removed Epstein's name from the lodge and eliminated references to him after his first conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor in 2008. The school had previously accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations from Epstein, who attended the camp as a teenager.
The decision to demolish the building represents the latest effort by an institution to distance itself from Epstein's legacy following revelations about his extensive network of abuse. Epstein was arrested in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges but died by suicide in his jail cell before standing trial.
Interlochen Center for the Arts, founded in 1928, is known for its summer programs and year-round boarding school that has trained many notable performers and artists over the decades.
