Former Red Army Faction Member Sentenced After 30 Years as Fugitive
Daniela Klette, a former member of the German militant group Red Army Faction, was sentenced after being captured in Berlin following three decades on the run.

Daniela Klette, a 67-year-old former member of the Red Army Faction, has been sentenced in Germany after spending more than 30 years as a fugitive. She was captured in a Berlin apartment in 2024 and subsequently put on trial.
Klette was a member of the Red Army Faction, a militant leftist group that operated in Germany and conducted attacks against American and capitalist targets until the 1990s. The group, also known as the Baader-Meinhof Gang, was responsible for numerous terrorist attacks during its active period.
Following her time with the militant organization, Klette was convicted of armed robberies that prosecutors said were committed to finance her life while living as a fugitive. The robberies occurred after her involvement with the Red Army Faction had ended.
The case represents the conclusion of one of Germany's longest-running fugitive cases, with Klette having evaded authorities for more than three decades before her capture in the German capital. Her sentencing marks the end of a chapter in Germany's reckoning with the legacy of left-wing militant groups from the latter half of the 20th century.
