Police have launched a homicide investigation after a 75-year-old kosher bakery owner was found dead with gunshot wounds near a Queens lake shoreline.

Albert Itzkowitz was discovered along the shoreline of Kissena Lake in Flushing, Queens, according to police officials. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his neck and back.

Authorities ruled Itzkowitz's death a homicide on Thursday, though the discovery was made earlier in the week on Monday. The longtime New York City bakery owner operated a kosher bakery business.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Itzkowitz's death remains ongoing. Police have not released information about potential suspects or motives in the case.

Kissena Lake is located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. The area where the body was found is along the lake's shoreline.
