Generative AI media creation platform fal has announced a partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to serve as its preferred cloud provider, marking a significant infrastructure deal in the rapidly growing AI media generation sector.

The San Francisco-based startup, recently valued at $4.5 billion following a $300 million Series D funding round led by Sequoia Capital, operates as a unified gateway providing developers access to over 1,000 AI models for image, video, and audio creation through a single API. The platform serves 2.5 million developers globally and counts major enterprises including Canva, Adobe, and Amazon MGM Studios among its customers.

Fal's platform addresses infrastructure challenges in generative media creation by abstracting away the complex backend systems required to run AI models at scale. Rather than forcing developers to manage their own GPU clusters and deal with latency issues, fal provides what it describes as a "plug-and-play" solution that handles the technical complexity of running multiple AI models simultaneously.

The partnership with AWS aims to improve performance and reliability for fal's users, with the company promising 99.99% guaranteed uptime and faster inference speeds. AWS will provide the underlying infrastructure to handle millions of daily API calls, while fal users will benefit from access to Amazon's global cloud infrastructure, custom silicon including Trainium and Graviton processors, and enterprise-grade security compliance.

According to AWS General Manager Samira Panah Bakhtiar, the partnership positions AWS deeper into creative production workflows beyond just distribution and monetization. The deal leverages existing relationships, as many of fal's enterprise customers already operate within the AWS ecosystem, potentially making integration more seamless.

The enhanced AWS capabilities for fal customers will be rolled out in phases throughout 2026, as the generative AI media creation market continues to mature from experimental applications toward commercial-scale deployment.
