ICE Films Arrest of US Citizen for Social Media, Activists Launch Ad Campaign
Immigration enforcement agency filmed arrest of Christian Cerna after protest incident, while activists run TV ads targeting ICE agents' families.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers filmed the arrest of a US citizen and posted the footage to social media following his involvement in a protest against ICE raids, according to reporting on the incident.
Christian Cerna attended a June 2025 protest in his neighborhood against ICE operations. During the demonstration, he allegedly punched a border patrol agent, though Cerna denies making contact with the officer. He subsequently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault charges related to the incident.
Days after the protest, ICE officers arrested Cerna at his residence in front of his family members. The officers filmed the entire arrest operation and later published the footage on social media platforms. Cerna described the experience as taking a "heavy toll" on him and his family.
Separately, activists have launched television advertisements in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Palm Beach, Florida, targeting ICE agents and their families. The November 2025 ad campaign features a young girl greeting her father, who is shown wearing ICE insignia, while images of immigration enforcement operations play on a television in the background.
The advertisement includes a voiceover stating: "A mask can't hide you from your neighbors, your children and God. You can walk away, before the shame follows you home." The campaign represents a shift in activist strategy from traditional protests to directly appealing to the moral concerns of individual ICE agents.
The activists behind the ad campaign believe that appealing to agents' personal relationships and moral considerations may be more effective than conventional protest methods in influencing immigration enforcement practices.
