Trump Administration Projects Face Cost Increases and Planning Updates
Federal projects under Trump administration see budget changes, including reflecting pool repairs and statue garden location announcement.

Two federal projects initiated during the Trump administration have seen recent developments regarding costs and planning details.
Federal records indicate that a no-bid contract for repairs to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool has reached $13.1 million in costs. The project, which includes painting the pool blue, now carries a price tag approximately seven times higher than initial estimates provided by President Trump.
Separately, Trump announced on Friday the designated location for the planned "National Garden of American Heroes," a project intended to commemorate the nation's 250th birthday. The former president posted on Truth Social that the statue garden will be situated in West Potomac Park, a national park area adjacent to the National Mall known for its cherry blossoms.
The reflecting pool repair project represents one of several infrastructure updates to monuments and memorials in the Washington D.C. area. The significant cost increase from original projections raises questions about project management and budgeting for federal construction contracts.
The National Garden of American Heroes was initially proposed as part of broader efforts to celebrate American history and heritage. West Potomac Park's location near other major monuments and memorials would place the statue garden within the established tourism corridor of the nation's capital.
