Cross-border attacks between Ukraine and Russia resulted in significant civilian casualties on both sides, officials reported Friday.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a Russian missile attack on a Kyiv apartment building killed 24 people, including three children. The strike occurred Thursday, with the death toll confirmed Friday morning.

Separately, Ukrainian drone attacks targeted the Russian city of Ryazan, killing four people according to local governor Pavel Malkov. The attacks on the Russian regional capital occurred as the conflict continues to expand beyond traditional front lines.

The apartment building strike in Kyiv represents one of the deadlier attacks on civilian infrastructure in the Ukrainian capital in recent months. The building sustained significant damage from the missile impact.
