Dalton Eatherly, 28, who goes by "Chud the Builder" online, has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting Wednesday afternoon outside the Montgomery County Courthouse in Clarksville, Tennessee. The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. when police responded to reports of gunfire during what authorities described as a physical altercation between two men.

Both Eatherly and another man sustained gunshot wounds and were hospitalized in stable condition, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office. Eatherly was later taken to the Montgomery County jail and charged with attempted murder, employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Eatherly is known for posting videos on social media in which he confronts people, particularly Black individuals, using racial slurs and provocative language. In an audio recording he posted after the incident, Eatherly claimed he acted in self-defense after being attacked. However, authorities have not disclosed what led to the confrontation or identified the second person involved.

The shooting occurred on the same day Eatherly was scheduled to appear in court for a civil case involving an alleged $3,300 debt. Just days earlier, he had been arrested in Nashville and charged with theft of services, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest after an incident at a restaurant where he was accused of making racial statements and leaving without paying his bill.

The courthouse was closed Thursday following the shooting. Eatherly is expected to be arraigned Friday, when a judge will determine bond. Court records were not immediately updated, and it was unclear if Eatherly had legal representation for the current charges.
