An Alabama woman has been sentenced to life in prison for hiring a hitman to kill her child's father in what authorities say was motivated by a custody dispute.

Jaclyn Skuce was convicted of arranging the murder of Anthony Sheppard, the father of her child. According to investigators, Skuce hired Logan Delp to carry out the killing.

Authorities determined that Skuce's motive was to prevent Sheppard from gaining custody of their child or obtaining further visitation rights. The case involved an ongoing custody battle between the two parents.

The investigation revealed that Skuce had orchestrated the murder-for-hire plot as a way to resolve the custody dispute in her favor by eliminating Sheppard entirely.

Skuce received a life sentence following her conviction. The case highlights the extreme lengths to which some individuals will go in contentious custody battles, though such criminal actions remain exceptionally rare.
