Stellantis, the multinational automaker behind brands including Jeep, and Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Leapmotor announced plans to expand their partnership with joint production operations in Europe.

The collaboration aims to increase electric vehicle production capacity while reducing manufacturing costs, according to company statements. The partnership represents a deepening of ties between the European-American automotive giant and the Chinese EV specialist.

The move comes as automakers worldwide seek to accelerate electric vehicle adoption and compete in the rapidly growing EV market. Joint production arrangements allow companies to share costs and leverage complementary expertise in manufacturing and technology.

Stellantis has been pursuing various partnerships and investments to strengthen its position in the electric vehicle transition. The company, formed through the merger of Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group, has committed significant resources to electrification across its brand portfolio.

Leapmotor, founded in 2015, focuses on intelligent electric vehicles and has been expanding its presence beyond the Chinese market. The partnership with Stellantis provides the Chinese company with access to European manufacturing capabilities and distribution networks.
