Authorities have served a search warrant at a home connected to the man convicted of killing 19-year-old college student Kristin Smart in 1996, according to law enforcement sources.

The search warrant was executed at a residence linked to the individual who was found guilty in the decades-old murder case that captivated California and the nation. Smart was a Cal Poly San Luis Obispo student who disappeared in May 1996 after attending an off-campus party.

The case remained unsolved for more than two decades before charges were filed. Paul Flores was convicted in 2022 of first-degree murder in Smart's death, while his father Ruben Flores was acquitted of charges that he helped hide her body.
