ADL Reports Mixed Trends in Antisemitic Incidents Across US in 2024
Anti-Defamation League data shows antisemitic assaults rose 4% nationally with weapon attacks up 39%, while total incidents decreased.

The Anti-Defamation League released its annual audit of antisemitic incidents, revealing a complex picture of hate crimes across the United States in 2024. While overall antisemitic incidents decreased compared to the previous year, violent assaults increased by 4 percent nationwide.
The data shows a particularly concerning trend in weapon-related attacks, which surged 39 percent according to the ADL report. This increase in the severity of violence occurred even as the total number of antisemitic incidents declined.
Geographically, incidents were documented in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. New York, California, and New Jersey recorded the highest total numbers of antisemitic incidents. In New York specifically, assault cases rose nearly 10 percent, from 82 incidents in 2023 to 90 in 2024.
The findings highlight a shift toward more dangerous forms of antisemitic violence, with perpetrators increasingly using deadly weapons in their attacks. This pattern suggests that while antisemitic incidents may be decreasing in overall frequency, those that do occur are becoming more severe and potentially life-threatening.
The ADL's annual audit serves as the most comprehensive tracking of antisemitic incidents across the United States, documenting everything from vandalism and harassment to physical assaults and threats against Jewish individuals and institutions.
