Senate Democrats are preparing to force another vote on a war powers resolution aimed at blocking further Trump administration military action against Iran, marking the sixth such attempt by the minority party.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) are scheduled to speak with reporters Thursday morning as Democrats advance their latest effort to constrain executive war powers regarding Iran.

The push comes as the conflict between the United States and Iran continues, with President Trump stating that military action will persist unless Iran agrees to abandon nuclear weapons development. Trump said "there will never be a deal unless they agree that there will be no nuclear weapons."

Pentagon officials disclosed that the conflict has cost $25 billion to date during congressional testimony. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth faced questioning from lawmakers regarding the administration's Iran strategy during what was described as a tense Capitol Hill hearing.

The United States has maintained a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for global oil supplies, as part of its pressure campaign against Iran. The ongoing military actions have contributed to rising gas prices domestically.

Thursday's war powers resolution vote represents the latest congressional effort to reassert legislative authority over military operations, though previous attempts have failed to gain sufficient support to override potential presidential vetoes.
