Trump Cabinet Officials Testify on Fiscal 2027 Budget Proposals
NASA Administrator and Education Secretary testify before Senate on Trump's budget request featuring cuts to both agencies.

Two Trump administration officials appeared before Senate Appropriations Committee panels Tuesday morning to defend the president's fiscal 2027 budget proposals for their respective agencies.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman testified on the administration's $18.8 billion budget request for the space agency, representing a $5.6 billion decrease from the 2026 enacted funding level. The proposed budget comes as NASA continues pursuing its goals of returning astronauts to the moon.
Separately, Education Secretary Linda McMahon faced questions about the budget request for the Department of Education, which has undergone significant restructuring since Trump returned to office. The department has been substantially reduced in scope, with many of its programs transferred to other federal agencies.
The Education Department has been targeted for major changes since the beginning of Trump's current term, with the administration moving various educational programs and functions to different parts of the federal government.
Both hearings represent part of the regular congressional budget review process, where cabinet officials defend their agencies' funding requests before lawmakers who will ultimately decide on appropriations. The testimonies provide lawmakers an opportunity to question administration priorities and spending decisions for the upcoming fiscal year.
