Nearly half of New York City residents approve of Mayor Zohran Mamdani's job performance as he approaches his first 100 days in office, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

The Marist Institute for Public Opinion survey found that 48% of city residents approve of Mamdani's performance, while 30% disapprove and 23% remain unsure. The poll was conducted during the last week of March.

The 34-year-old mayor received a 55% favorable rating from respondents, according to the survey results. Additionally, a majority of those polled indicated they believe the city is moving in the right direction under Mamdani's leadership.

Mamdani, a Democrat, is approaching the symbolic 100-day milestone that is often used as an early benchmark for new executives. The poll provides the first comprehensive public assessment of his performance since taking office.

The survey results suggest Mamdani has maintained relatively stable approval ratings during his early tenure as the city's chief executive, though nearly a quarter of residents have yet to form an opinion about his performance.
