Political developments: Wyoming House candidate enters race, Arizona senator eyes 2028
Steve Friess launched a Wyoming House campaign while Sen. Ruben Gallego discussed potential 2028 presidential ambitions.

Steve Friess, son of late Republican megadonor Foster Friess, announced his candidacy for Wyoming's open at-large House seat this week. Friess told Fox News Digital that while donor politics have their place, he believes it is time to serve directly in elected office rather than influence politics from the sidelines.
The younger Friess enters a competitive field for the Wyoming House seat, seeking to build on his family's long-standing involvement in Republican politics. His father Foster Friess was a prominent conservative donor and businessman who ran unsuccessfully for Wyoming governor in 2018.
Meanwhile, in Arizona, newly elected Senator Ruben Gallego indicated he is considering a potential presidential campaign in 2028. Speaking ahead of a Latino construction industry event in Chicago, Gallego discussed his early thinking about seeking the Democratic nomination for president.
'We have to look at it,' Gallego said when asked about his presidential ambitions. The Arizona Democrat, who won his Senate seat in the 2024 election, would join what is expected to be a crowded field of candidates seeking the Democratic nomination in four years.
Both announcements reflect early positioning for future electoral cycles, with candidates beginning to establish their profiles and test political waters well ahead of their respective campaigns.
