Republicans Set Conditions for Trump's Next Attorney General Nominee
Senator Tillis establishes red line on Jan. 6 stance while Rep. Mace seeks Bondi testimony on Epstein case after Trump's AG dismissal.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) announced Thursday he will oppose any attorney general nominee who makes excuses for the January 6 Capitol riot, establishing conditions for confirmation of President Trump's next pick for the position.
Tillis's statement came after Trump dismissed Pam Bondi from the attorney general role, setting up what is expected to be a contentious confirmation process for her successor later this year.
Separately, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) said Friday she will continue pushing for Bondi to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee regarding the investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking to CNN anchor Kate Bolduan, Mace indicated Bondi remains compelled to appear before lawmakers.
The developments highlight potential Republican divisions as Trump prepares to nominate a new attorney general, with some GOP members setting policy conditions while others pursue oversight of the departing official's previous work.
