Federal prosecutors on Thursday charged rapper Pooh Shiesty and eight others with kidnapping and robbing three men at gunpoint, including rapper Gucci Mane, during a January confrontation at a Dallas music studio.

The alleged incident occurred on January 10 when the three victims traveled to Dallas for what they believed was a business meeting, according to a federal indictment filed in the Northern District of Texas. Prosecutors said Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Williams Jr., arranged the meeting to discuss the terms of his contract with 1017 Records, Gucci Mane's record label.

Once inside the studio, Williams allegedly produced an AK-style pistol and forced one victim to sign a release from the recording contract. Other defendants then displayed firearms and robbed the victims of watches, jewelry, cash and other items, prosecutors said. One victim was choked to near unconsciousness, while another defendant blocked the door to prevent the victims from leaving.

Williams was on home confinement for a prior firearms conspiracy conviction in Florida at the time of the alleged Texas incident. The FBI served court-ordered warrants Wednesday at a home in Cordova, Tennessee, that property records show is owned by Williams.

Gucci Mane, whose legal name is Radric Delantic Davis, is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of trap music alongside fellow Atlanta rappers T.I. and Jeezy. He emerged in the mid-2000s and has helped launch artists including Young Thug. Representatives for Gucci Mane did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
