Archive of Our Own Exits Beta After 17 Years, Reddit Deprecates r/all Feed
Two major online platforms announced significant changes, with fanfiction site AO3 leaving beta status and Reddit retiring its r/all feed.

Archive of Our Own (AO3), one of the internet's largest fanfiction repositories, officially exited beta status this week after operating in that phase for 17 years. The Organization for Transformative Works, the nonprofit organization that operates the site, announced the milestone on Thursday.
AO3 launched in 2009 and has since become a central hub for fan-created content, hosting millions of stories across various fandoms. The platform has undergone significant growth and feature development during its extended beta period, according to the organization's announcement.
Separately, Reddit announced it is deprecating its r/all feed, which has served as one of the platform's primary discovery mechanisms for popular content. The change is part of what Reddit describes as ongoing efforts to simplify the platform and improve personalization of users' home feeds.
Reddit has historically offered both r/all and r/popular as ways for users to browse trending posts across the platform. The r/all feed functioned as a less filtered option compared to r/popular, though it filtered out sexually explicit content while displaying a broader range of posts from across Reddit's thousands of communities.
Both announcements reflect broader trends in how major online platforms are evolving their services and user experiences as they mature and adapt to changing user expectations.
