Sen. Cory Booker says he's not ruling out 2028 presidential run
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker indicated he may consider running for president in 2028 while focusing on his current Senate reelection campaign.

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) said Sunday that he is not ruling out a potential presidential campaign in 2028, though he emphasized his current focus remains on seeking reelection to the Senate this year.
Booker made the comments during an interview on NBC News's "Meet the Press" with host Kristen Welker. When asked about his future political ambitions, the New Jersey senator left the door open for a White House bid in the next presidential election cycle.
"I'm definitely not ruling out" a possible presidential run, Booker stated, while noting that his immediate priority is his Senate reelection campaign in 2024.
The 2028 election will mark the next opportunity for Democrats to compete for the presidency, following the conclusion of the current presidential term. Booker previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 before ending his campaign in January of that year.
Booker has served as New Jersey's junior senator since 2013, when he won a special election following the death of Senator Frank Lautenberg. He was previously mayor of Newark from 2006 to 2013.
