Apple Discontinues Mac Pro Desktop Computer
Apple has removed the Mac Pro desktop workstation from its website, ending the product line that served professional users since 2006.

Apple has discontinued its Mac Pro desktop computer, removing the high-end workstation from its website after nearly two decades in the company's product lineup.
The Mac Pro, known among users as the "cheese grater" model due to its distinctive perforated design, was Apple's most expensive desktop computer and targeted professional users requiring powerful computing capabilities for tasks like video editing, 3D rendering, and scientific computing.
The desktop workstation had been part of Apple's Mac lineup since 2006, when it replaced the Power Mac G5 as Apple transitioned from PowerPC to Intel processors. The Mac Pro represented Apple's commitment to serving professional and enterprise customers who needed maximum performance and expandability.
Apple appears to be positioning the Mac Studio as the replacement for the Mac Pro in its desktop lineup. The Mac Studio, introduced in 2022, offers high performance in a more compact form factor, though it lacks some of the expandability features that made the Mac Pro appealing to certain professional users.
The discontinuation marks the end of Apple's tower-style desktop computer, consolidating the company's desktop offerings around the iMac all-in-one systems, Mac mini compact desktop, and Mac Studio. Professional users seeking maximum performance will now need to choose between these alternatives or consider Apple's laptop offerings like the MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon chips.
