Federal prosecutors have charged Murielle Misczak, director of a Park Slope preschool, with embezzling $2.8 million from the day care facility, according to court documents filed Wednesday.

Misczak was arrested Wednesday morning on charges related to the alleged theft. Prosecutors say she used the stolen funds for personal expenses including luxury vacations, professional wrestling tickets, and food delivery services.

The charges represent the latest in a series of financial misconduct cases involving youth programs in New York City. Earlier this year, city officials disclosed a separate $17 million fraud scheme involving payroll cards from a summer jobs program, where large amounts of cash were withdrawn from ATMs.

City records indicate that the youth program affected by the $17 million scheme had previously faced misconduct allegations, though officials have not provided a complete explanation of how the payroll card fraud was executed or prevented.

The Park Slope case highlights ongoing concerns about financial oversight at educational and youth facilities that receive public funding. Federal authorities have not disclosed whether additional charges are expected in connection with either case.
