Oklahoma secured their Sweet 16 berth behind a dominant performance from forward Beers, who recorded 18 points and 14 rebounds in the Sooners' victory over Michigan State. The double-double effort helped Oklahoma return to the tournament's second weekend.
Top-seeded Arizona also advanced with a victory over ninth-seeded Utah State. The Wildcats' win extends their recent tournament success, marking their third consecutive Sweet 16 appearance since suffering a first-round upset in 2023.
The Sweet 16 round represents the third stage of the NCAA tournament, where the field is narrowed from 68 teams to 16. Teams that advance beyond this round reach the Elite Eight, with the ultimate goal of reaching the Final Four and championship game.
