Team USA Hockey Players Respond to Trump White House Invitation, Comments
Some Team USA hockey players declined Trump's State of the Union invitation while women's team responded to his remarks during men's team call.

President Donald Trump invited members of the gold medal-winning U.S. men's hockey team to attend his State of the Union address on Tuesday night, though not all players accepted the invitation.
Jake Guentzel was among five players from the men's team who did not attend the State of the Union address. The team had won gold at the recent Olympics under coach Mike Sullivan.
Separately, members of the U.S. women's hockey team, who also won Olympic gold, issued statements responding to comments Trump made during a phone call with the men's team. The women's team expressed concerns that controversy over Trump's remarks might overshadow their Olympic achievement.
The women's hockey players stated they did not want their gold medal victory to be diminished by the ensuing backlash. Their response came after Trump's comments during his congratulatory call to the men's team generated criticism.
Both the men's and women's U.S. hockey teams captured gold medals at the Olympics, marking significant achievements for American hockey. The tradition of presidential congratulations and White House invitations for Olympic champions has been a longstanding practice across multiple administrations.
