Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has projected that artificial intelligence will drive Amazon Web Services revenue to $600 billion by 2036, representing a doubling of the company's previous sales forecasts for its cloud computing division.

The revised projection reflects the significant impact Amazon expects AI services to have on its cloud business over the next decade. AWS currently serves as Amazon's most profitable segment, providing cloud infrastructure and services to businesses worldwide.

The optimistic forecast comes as Amazon and other major cloud providers are investing heavily in AI infrastructure to capitalize on growing demand for artificial intelligence services. Companies across industries are increasingly adopting AI technologies, driving demand for the computing power and specialized services that cloud platforms provide.

Following Amazon's recent bond sale, financial analysts have begun revising their debt forecasts for major cloud infrastructure companies, known as hyperscalers. The bond issuance suggests Amazon is raising capital to fund its AI infrastructure investments and expansion plans.

The $600 billion revenue target would represent substantial growth for AWS, which reported annual revenue of approximately $90 billion in 2023. Achieving this projection would require sustained growth averaging roughly 17% annually over the 13-year period.
