Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled charging capabilities for its Denza Z9GT electric vehicle that significantly reduce charging times compared to current industry standards.

The Denza Z9GT can charge its battery from 10 percent to 70 percent capacity in five minutes, according to specifications released by the company. The vehicle can reach 97 percent battery capacity in 12 minutes under optimal charging conditions.

The charging speeds represent a notable advancement in electric vehicle technology, where charging time has been a key concern for consumers considering the switch from traditional combustion engines. Current electric vehicles typically require 30 minutes to several hours to achieve similar charging levels.
