Phil Campbell, longtime guitarist for heavy metal band Motörhead, has died at age 64 following a battle in intensive care.

Phil Campbell, the longtime guitarist for legendary heavy metal band Motörhead, has died at age 64, his family announced Saturday.
Campbell's family said in a statement that he died "peacefully" following what they described as a "courageous battle in intensive care." No specific cause of death was provided.
Campbell joined Motörhead in 1984 and remained with the band for over three decades, becoming an integral part of their sound and success. He performed on numerous albums and toured extensively with the group led by the late Lemmy Kilmister.
The Welsh guitarist was known for his powerful riff work and stage presence, helping to define Motörhead's aggressive rock and roll style that influenced countless metal bands. He continued performing with the band until Lemmy's death in 2015, which effectively ended Motörhead's run.
Following Motörhead's conclusion, Campbell formed Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons with his three sons, continuing his musical career and carrying on the heavy rock tradition he helped establish with one of metal's most influential bands.
