Atlanta Falcons rookie James Pearce Jr. has been charged with three felonies following an alleged domestic violence incident involving WNBA player Rickea Jackson, according to court documents.
The charges against Pearce include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, stemming from an incident that occurred on February 7 in Doral, Florida. Court records indicate that Jackson, who plays for the Los Angeles Sparks, sought and obtained a temporary order of protection against Pearce.
According to the filing, Jackson alleged that Pearce crashed his vehicle into hers multiple times during the incident. Jackson, who had previously been in a relationship with Pearce, stated in court documents that she feared for her safety.
Pearce was selected by the Atlanta Falcons as a first-round draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The 21-year-old edge rusher played college football at Tennessee before entering the NFL. Jackson, 22, was drafted by the Los Angeles Sparks in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft after playing at LSU and Tennessee.
The Falcons organization has not yet issued a public statement regarding the charges against their rookie player. The case remains under investigation by Florida authorities.
