A 44-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a Microsoft executive whose body was found in the River Thames at Henley-on-Thames last week.

Nelio Gouveia appeared at Oxford Crown Court following the discovery of Jennifer Symonds' body near a private members' club in the Oxfordshire town. Both Gouveia and Symonds were 44 years old.

Symonds worked as an account manager for Microsoft. Her body was recovered from the Thames close to an upmarket private members' club in Henley-on-Thames.

CCTV footage reportedly shows Symonds visiting a restaurant with a male companion hours before her body was discovered in the river. The circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation by Thames Valley Police.

Henley-on-Thames is a popular riverside town in Oxfordshire known for its annual Royal Regatta and several exclusive clubs along the Thames. The case has drawn attention due to the victim's professional background and the location where her body was found.
