Prison inmate charged with murder of Ian Huntley
Anthony Russell, 43, has been charged with murdering convicted child killer Ian Huntley following an assault at HMP Frankland prison in February.

A prison inmate has been charged with the murder of Ian Huntley, the convicted killer of two schoolgirls from Soham, Cambridgeshire.
Anthony Russell, 43, was charged following an assault that took place at HMP Frankland in Durham on February 26. Huntley, who was serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of 10-year-old Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, died as a result of the attack.
Russell is scheduled to appear at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court via videolink. The hearing will mark the first court appearance in connection with Huntley's death at the high-security prison.
Huntley was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2003 after being found guilty of murdering the two girls in Soham. The case became one of Britain's most high-profile child murder cases, leading to significant changes in background checking procedures for people working with children.
HMP Frankland in County Durham is a Category A men's prison that houses some of the country's most dangerous offenders. The facility has previously held other high-profile inmates serving lengthy sentences for serious crimes.
