Two Men Charged in ISIS-Inspired Plot Targeting NYC Mayor's Residence
Federal prosecutors charged two teenagers with planning an explosive attack outside Gracie Mansion, allegedly inspired by ISIS.

Federal authorities have charged two teenagers with planning an ISIS-inspired explosive attack targeting New York City's Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the mayor.
Ibrahim Kayumi, 19, and Emir Balat, 18, face charges including attempting to provide material support to ISIS, use of a weapon of mass destruction, and other related offenses, according to a federal complaint.
Prosecutors allege the suspects attempted to detonate improvised explosive devices outside Gracie Mansion. According to the federal complaint, the defendants intended their attack to exceed the scale and impact of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, which killed three people and injured hundreds.
The charges stem from an investigation into the suspects' alleged efforts to carry out the attack in support of the Islamic State terrorist organization. Both men were arrested in connection with the plot.
Gracie Mansion, located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, serves as the official residence of New York City's mayor and has been home to mayors since 1942. The historic mansion is situated in Carl Schurz Park overlooking the East River.
The case represents the latest in a series of ISIS-inspired plots targeting high-profile locations in major U.S. cities. Federal authorities continue to investigate the matter.
