Nightclub bombing in Peru injures 33, including 3 minors
An explosion at a nightclub in Trujillo, Peru injured 33 people, with 5 in serious condition and 3 minors among the wounded.

A bombing at a nightclub in Peru injured 33 people, including three minors, authorities said Saturday.
The explosion occurred in the pre-dawn hours at the Dali nightclub in Trujillo, a city in the northern coastal province of the same name, according to the local Emergency Operations Center. The blast injured a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds among the victims.
At least five people are in serious condition, according to Gerardo Florián Gómez, executive director of the Trujillo Health Network. Some victims suffered amputations and shrapnel wounds and were undergoing surgery, he told reporters. The cause of the explosion and those responsible were not immediately known.
The incident occurred in a region that has recently experienced significant violence and crime. The explosion took place less than a month after another blast in Trujillo that damaged 25 homes but caused no injuries or fatalities.
The La Libertad region, where Trujillo is located, has been plagued by extortion and illegal mining activities. The region's Andean portion contains Peru's largest gold-producing area. According to official figures, the region experienced 286 explosions in 2025, with 136 occurring specifically in Trujillo.
Authorities attribute the rise in such incidents to the expansion of organized criminal groups, which has led to an increase in related crimes including extortion throughout the area.
