The family of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC's "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, has announced a $1 million reward for information leading to her whereabouts. Savannah Guthrie made the announcement in a video message to the public seeking help in the case.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home just outside Tucson, Arizona, on January 31 and was reported missing the following day. Authorities believe she was taken against her will, with investigators finding drops of blood on her front porch. The FBI has released surveillance video showing a masked individual at Guthrie's home the night she disappeared.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department has asked volunteers to refrain from conducting independent searches, stating that several hundred people are already working the investigation and more than 20,000 tips have been received. Despite this request, some volunteers have continued searching the desert area near her home. On Sunday, a group found a black backpack, though officials determined it was not the same brand seen in the FBI surveillance footage.

The sheriff's office has maintained around-the-clock surveillance at Guthrie's residence and implemented temporary traffic controls to accommodate emergency vehicles and media presence. A growing memorial of flowers, ribbons, and religious items has formed outside the home as the community shows support for the family.

Law enforcement experts emphasize that untrained volunteers risk contaminating crime scenes and should coordinate their efforts with official investigators. The FBI and other agencies continue to assist in the ongoing investigation.
