Human remains including a severed head and body parts have been discovered in Bali during the search for a missing Ukrainian tourist who was kidnapped earlier this month.

Igor Komarov, 28, was attacked and kidnapped on February 15 while riding a scooter in Bali. The son of a wealthy Ukrainian businessman had been the subject of an active search by local authorities.

The remains were found washed up on a beach in Bali, according to local reports. Authorities are working to confirm the identity of the remains, though they are believed to belong to Komarov.

Prior to the discovery of the remains, a video had circulated showing what appeared to be a ransom demand related to the case. The circumstances surrounding Komarov's kidnapping and the subsequent discovery of human remains remain under investigation by Indonesian police.
