Buckhout Wins GOP Primary in North Carolina's 1st District
Former Pentagon official Laurie Buckhout won the Republican primary in North Carolina's 1st Congressional District and will face incumbent Democrat Don Davis in November.
Former Pentagon official Laurie Buckhout won the Republican primary in North Carolina's 1st Congressional District, according to projections from Decision Desk HQ.
Buckhout defeated four other GOP candidates in the primary: Asa Buck, Robert Hanig, Eric Rouse and Ashley-Nicole Russell.
She will face incumbent Rep. Don Davis (D-N.C.) in November's general election. The matchup represents a rematch from their 2024 contest, where Davis narrowly defeated Buckhout.
The race takes place in a redrawn district following redistricting. North Carolina's 1st Congressional District has undergone boundary changes since the previous election cycle.
Buckhout's victory sets up another competitive race in the district, where she will attempt to unseat Davis in her second bid for the congressional seat.
