Harry Maguire Found Guilty of Assault in Greece, Receives Suspended Sentence
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire was convicted of assault and bribery charges related to a 2020 incident in Mykonos, receiving a 15-month suspended sentence.

Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire has been found guilty of non-serious assault, resisting arrest and attempted bribery following a retrial in Greece. The charges stem from an incident during a family holiday in Mykonos in August 2020.
A Greek court handed Maguire a 15-month suspended jail sentence on Wednesday, six years after the initial brawl occurred. The conviction follows legal proceedings that have extended over several years since the original incident.
According to court records, Maguire was accused of refusing opportunities to pay a £43,500 bribe to Greek police to resolve the case. The charges include non-serious assault against police officers, resisting arrest, and attempted bribery in connection with the Mykonos incident.
Following the conviction, prosecutors involved in the case have called for Maguire to face additional punishment from the Premier League. Greek police officers involved in the case have issued statements criticizing the Manchester United defender's character and calling for sporting sanctions.
Maguire, who serves as captain for both Manchester United and the England national team, has maintained his position with both teams throughout the legal proceedings. The suspended sentence means he will not serve jail time unless he commits another offense during the suspension period.
